Practices
One day a week after school, usually Tuesday, from 3:35 - 5:00 pm throughout 7th grade football season.
On weeks when we have a Pep Rally, we will also have practice on Wednesdays from 3:35 - 5:00 pm. There will also be random practices throughout the school year for other events we are asked to participate in. You will receive plenty of notice before these practices so please be prepared to be as flexible as possible.
Practices are mandatory!! (Cheer Squad members only, please.)
Cheering
Each squad will cheer at the 7th grade football games on Saturdays at the time their team is playing which will be 9:00 am or 10:00 am. Squad members should be at the track at least 15 minutes before their team plays and plan to stay for at least 15 minutes after they finish cheering. Cheer squad also participates in all pep rallies/assemblies and will cheer at various other events throughout the year.
Future Cheer Squad Applicants
Any 6th grade girl interested in being a member of 7th Grade Cheer Squad should pick up an informational cheer packet in the front office during the week after Spring Break. The cost for Cheer Squad is normally around $240.00, which includes a custom uniform and practice clothes. The only other expenses are cheer pictures and a "Pink Out" shirt which will be purchased during their 7th grade year. Cheer Squad promotes teamwork and leadership qualities and the girls should be prepared to represent SSMS at all times. Expectations and guidelines will be detailed in the cheer packet. Being a member of Cheer Squad is a rewarding experience. The girls learn the basics of cheerleading and have a great time supporting the Wildcats and developing relationships with their teammates!
Physicals
All SSMS Cheerleaders are required to have a physical. 2019-2020 school physicals will be on Sunday, April 28th, from 2pm-3pm at the SSHS Gymnasium. Cost is $15.00. All physicals must be completed on the current UIL Medical History/Physical form. No other forms will be accepted. Any questions, please contact Tammy Carrell at 903-885-2158 ext. 2290.
